Since they have to hike in their supplies they would require little to no snow, so it would be closed.
Roughly 1200 feet or 365m. It starts off very easily and is completely flat until you get past the lake. The trail is well maintained and is manageable by most people. Once at the teahouse and you've had tea and cakes, consider going the extra mile or so to the glacier lookout point, provided the weather allows.
Its open only in the summer months i believe. The family that owns and runs it told me that when we were up there earlier this month. Btw there are 2 tea houses. The above is for the 6 Glaciers. I dont know about the tea house at lake Agnes, that may be open till later as its closer to the hotel.
Fun little tea house. The hike there took 4 hours round trip, but it felt like much longer. Wear proper clothes so you don’t get soaked on you way up like we did!
It was a cold and rainy Canada Day when we hiked up Tea House. The great food was even more welcomed at the end of that hike! They prefer cash, and you need to pack you garbage back down. They do provide a paper bag. As many noted, the chocolate cake is excellent! They also made great biscuits too!
The views from the area around the tea house are literally the best in the world. It is the most stunning scenery I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot.The hike itself is fine for anyone of moderate fitness levels. We did it in 4 hours roundtrip, not included the hour we spent taking in the views along the way.I cannot recommend this hike enough. It will be one of the highlights of your life!
Great spot to rest before hiking to the lookout point.
Favorite place in the world. Everything tastes better when you know it had to be packed in. On the hike down we were passed by the waitress running the mountain trail. And later we saw her running up the trail with a pack full of supplies. Much respect.
This place is quite the hike to get to. But the hike is wonderful and when you arrive you will feel a sense of accomplishment. The prices here are mostly fair (REMEMBER TO BRING CASH TO PAY) and the staff is friendly. Tea was great but it is in baggies and you can also experience it at home by getting it from Banff Tea Co. I also had the chocolate cake. It was fine but nothing special. You will be asked to take the garbage down the mountain so make sure your backpack has some space.
The hike is beautiful and totally worth it. They tell you it’s between 2-2.5 hours to get there but what they don’t tell you is how rocky, icy, and snowy it could still be at this time of the year! We started the hike at 6:30am and we only saw 3 other people on the trail - however it was much busier on our way down. Start early if you want to avoid crowds!
We weren’t planning or prepared for the challenging hike and climb (3k of which were uphill) but were so grateful the Tea House was open. The staff were very COVID-19 friendly. Chili, biscuits, PB and J sandwich and Chai tea were delicious. Thanks you!
